Fadenzähler (linen tester)

"Fadenzähler" is the german word for the strong magnifying glass used by printers and typesetters. This interactive installation enables the visitors of an exhibition to look at everyday typography in a new way.

An ordinary newspaper under a pane of glass. A magnifying glass can be moved on the glass plate above the exhibit

The joints of the flexible attachment contain rotary sensors enabling the computer to evaluate the position of the magnifying glass

Behind the exhibit is a round projection surface. The projection shows the area under the magnifying glass extremely enlarged.

After entering a sensitive area by moving the magnifying glass the area expands and offers more space for information and interaction

This example shows the exploration of the various components of a simple letter

even a void has its own nomenclature
